I live in the UK (United Kingdom) near by London, and I'm really interested in modeling, I've always wanted to do modeling, but when I search for modeling agencies on the internet, I'm not sure which ones are the real things and which ones are the scams. So can anyone give me names of real modeling agencies based in the UK (near London)
I really do hope someone can help, it would really make me a lot happier, thinking that I have a real chance rather than being scammed.

RE:
real modeling agencies?
I live in the UK (United Kingdom) near by London, and I'm really interested in modeling, I've always wanted to do modeling, but when I search for modeling agencies on the internet, I'm not sure which ones are the real things and which ones are the scams. So can anyone give me names of...
Almost all real agencies are accredited by the Association of Model Agents and/or the Association of Model and Talent Agents

There are too many scam agencies to name as new ones crop up every month and old ones just change their name every few months once one of their names gets reported too many times as a scam - then they change the name and keep up the same scam
Here are some agencies on various Named and Shamed lists to be avoided at all costs, but this is in no way a comprehensive list as many of the ones listed here are already operating under new names

And remember, as of 1 October 2010 it's AGAINST THE LAW for any UK agency finding you work as a fashion or photographic model to charge you any upfront fees - the info is on the direct.gov site. Remember this simple rule and you'll avoid 99.99% of scam agencies

"Never pay any money on the day
If you are asked for money when you first speak to an agency they are breaking the law and you should walk away. Report their actions to the Pay and Work Rights Helpline or fill out the online complaint form.
"From 1 October 2010, agencies finding you work as a photographic and/or fashion model are banned from charging you an upfront fee, including a fee for your details to appear in a publication or on a website. "
I don't know any modelling agencies, but scams have similar tactics, such as :-
- PO Box addresses
- or Non- city centre addresses
- Unrealistic promises
- Joining fee
- Badly written
- No httpS:// when making payments
- and other tricks.
Beware also of grubby men (and women!) wanting to photograph you.
Good agency hunting...
