Well I just came back from the orientation... I have to go in 3 days of this week for training. I AM REALLY NERVOUS.
My position is a line cook, basically making all the sandwiches and salads... she gave me 2 booklets of food items that I should get familiar with. This is like my first time doing a job like this... I AM SO SCARED that I might screw up. How do cooks memorize 20+ items??? I don't know how I'm going to do it... (I'm starting to think more realistic).
I start tomorrow... but now my nervous thoughts are getting to me and I feel like I don't want to work there, even though I really need the money... I don't know what I should do!!!

calm down..... they dont expect you to know everything right off.. there will be people there to guide you and help you.. in a few weeks you will know everything like you were born to do it... they gave you the booklet just to help you get familiar with the items.. they dont expect you to just walk in and start making everything ( and good luck with your new job!)
That must be a terrible thing to go through and no one deserves to go through that. DO NOT be soft on him, even though you may still love him... Sometimes people have to deal with the consequences of their actions. What this man did was wrong, remember that. Don't be soft on him, you deserve more than that. Fight for yourself!, dont let him win! Love is a very strong thing and if what this thing with this waitress is what it seems. Then its just a little fling, you and your husband were together for 12 years. Thats a long time, this man will probrably,in time, realise he still loves you and he wants you back. If he does, its your choice whether you want to take him back or not. What you are going through is awful!, Stay strong!
If you didn't want to work there, why apply ??? it's easy to cook...it's easy to remember things if you TRY....I used to wait tables and my (then boyfriend, now husband) was a cook. Do you cook at home ??? Cooking in a restaurant is not much different than cooking at home. They don't expect you to know everything your first day. (don't be an idiot) Someone will be there to watch you and teach you things. They aren't going to let you alone till you know what you're doing.
So relax and have a thought...it's like school.
Some classes you like and sail through...some you don't. But theres always help. (and you can flirt with the waitress's and if you're nice to them, they make your life much easier as a cook. trust me on that....to 86 something means it's gone/we don't have it/it's not there...
99 is a good looking woman.)
First of all, you aren't going to know everything you need to know on the first day, or the third day. It takes time. If you quit before you start, then you'll never know if you could have succeeded or not. There will be someone to train you so, don't worry about it. A month from now, you will say "why was I ever doubtful about my abilities?"
DONT WORRY YOULL GET USED TO IT,
this is good for you to learn about this stuff, my husband has no idea how to cook or what anything is in the kitchen, one day youll b a great partner and help in the kitchen.
just concentrate and youll remember everything
ps, my sister has the same job as this, and prepares sandwiches and food in a resturaunt kitchen, shes the biggest dumb@ss i know, if she can do it,,,,, anyone can, lol
try being a broil cook at an applebees. just give the salads and sandwiches a shot. If it doesn't work out, you can go out for a smoke break and jump the back fence.
Go and give it some time. Every job has to be learned. we just don't walk in and ZAP!, all of a sudden we know everything. Alot of the time, the things we fear the most turn out to be the best. Relax, and good
luck......elisayn
It is not that difficult, you are just freaking out a little. If it takes you longer than the 3 days to get all the formulas down, I will be surprised.
Calm down you will be ok.I think that once you get in there and start doing this job that you will remember these things. It will be like an "old hat" after awhile.
your going to make mistakes that's life! you gotta learn somewhere after the first week or so you should be good to go after a month nobody can tell you anything don't give up learning is hard giving up is easy~
