Hi, i'm erica.
As soon as school starts, i'm going into vocal lessons,
to help my voice start becoming more powerful
& so i can sing the high notes, better. I'll be in
the lessons for 2-3 years, or as soon as it develops
more power.
After that, i'm going to start writing my own songs,
since i play the guitar. I've been looking at this
Major record company named Virgin Music Canada.
They said, when i want to, i can send a demo whenever i want,
or add my music on myspace. I'm not going to send a demo, because it takes 3-6 months to get listened to. After the lessons, i'll add some music on my myspace, and tell them about it.
I've heard, if you invite a agent to a cafe that you sing at, and they like you, they can help you get discovered, is this correct?
I'll start singing at cafes after that 2-3 years of lessons & call a agent to come see how i am.
Do you think this will get me anywhere?

It's good to have goals, but you are going about this backwards.
There's no reason to look at Major Record Companies now. It's just pointless and a waste of time.
And you don't need a contact in the music industry.
MySpace and the internet are changing the ways of being discovered. Look at Colbie Cailet. She got signed after she was on the top 50 unsigned artists of MySpace for a full year. She had hundreds of thousands of friends on her page that supported her music. Every record company was trying to sign her at that point because she already had a fan base.
You see the trend?
You get a fanbase 1st, then let record companies come to you. Record Labels are done gambling on unknown musicians, you have to have a fan base now.
So do your lessons, record your own music, and get a fanbase growing over the years. Things will start falling into place after that.
if you do that you will waste about 5 years of your life singing in a cafe annoying the people trying to drink their coffee.
see what contacts you have to people in the music industry, even if they're really weak like you know someone who knows someone sort of thing. all that helps to send your demo directly to them and not through the system.
ok first of all remember these people want something original new something they can really get up and clap to so unless ure ready to develop that then u shouldnt start but if u do go through with it remember finish school and always have a back up plan the musician life is a very shakey carier
