Arizona immigration law blocked by judge?
U.S. Judge Hands Victory to AZ Immigrate ? you excited for the victory?
A federal judge on Wednesday blocked the most controversial parts of Arizona's immigration law from taking effect, delivering a last-minute victory to opponents of the crackdown.
The overall law will still take effect Thursday, but without the provisions that angered opponents — including sections that required officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws. The judge also put on hold parts of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places. In addition, the judge blocked officers from making warrantless arrests of suspected illegal immigrants.
"Requiring Arizona law enforcement officials and agencies to determine the immigration status of every person who is arrested burdens lawfully-present aliens because their liberty will be restricted while their status is checked," U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton ruled.
Such accusations confuse what is legal with what is moral. American history is filled with people who broke unjust laws and were morally justified in doing so.
The American Revolution was fought by men and women who broke the laws of England and of King George III. Had they been arrested, they would have been hanged for treason to the Crown. If breaking the law makes one a criminal, then the Founding Fathers were all criminals. But no one still believes that today
the 1930s there were hundreds of Jews who came to American shores aboard the SS St. Louis, forcibly rejected under the guise of immigration quotas, many of whom ultimately perished in Hitler’s concentration camps. Countless potential immigrants watched in desperate disappointment. But suppose those passengers had defied immigration law and jumped ship in Miami harbor. Would anyone today call them criminals? I think not. Indeed, those who returned Jews to their persecutors might be considered guilty of collaborating with villainy. It may be illegal for people to seek freedom and opportunity in this country, but it isn’t immoral. I admire the courage of immigrants who leave all that is familiar to them, risking life and limb on stormy seas and deadly deserts, in order to move to a strange land where everything is unfamiliar and potentially hostile.
Most of our ancestors moved for freedom and opportunity, and we are the beneficiaries. Thank God they weren’t arrested and sent packing, as were violators of the Chinese Exclusion Act. Indeed, we might wonder whether we could have mustered the same measure of courage if we had been in their shoes.
The overwhelming majority of Mexicans and others who come here are not criminals. Most are just desperate for honest work .There was a day when the law did not allow women to vote, allowed one human being toown another and when United States citizens of Japanese descent were rounded up and placed ininternment camps and None of those laws were right.. There is a big difference between controlling the nation's border and discriminating by skin color, and Arizona's refusal to distinguish between the two undermines this nation's constitutional commitment to fairness and equality. The measure Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law last week gives police in Arizona broad powers to stop and arrest anyone not carrying proof that they are legally in the United States. The law sanctions ethnic profiling, and it underscores the need for a reasonable national policy on immigration.
I'm in opposition to this law not because it is a violation of human and civil rights alone ...It goes against all human dignity, against the principles of most Americans I know The governor abdicated her responsibility to protect the human rights of every individual in Arizona not just from those who dont look like her? What is done to the weakest in our society ought to be a of that society..
how excited are you for this victory....

FWIW, I've never met 2 equal people. The doctor is not equal to the carpenter. The good neighbor is especially not equal to the rapist, thief, murderer.
Equality is the biggest lie ever told. Sure, we might have been created equal (quote Abe Lincoln), but it seems we have all done very different things with our gifts since birth.
And just because we gripe loudest does not entitle us to an equal slice of the pie.
This judge was wrong. She is a criminal for contorting the laws to her definition.
These people come into our country illegally. If this was ANY OTHER COUNTRY.. there butts would be in a prison somewhere, or deported or severly punished. It is a shame that this has happened. You want to come here. DO IT THE RIGHT WAY.
I got 2 friends that will stand up for me if this country continues to get worse: smith & wesson
They are great friends and really now how to treat people.
The PRINCIPALS MOST AMERICANS follow is the LAW. I dont give a damn about YOUR human or civil rights UNLESS YOU PLAY BY THE RULES THE REST OF US PLAY BY.
I don't care what you look like as long as you play by the rules.
You victory WILL be short lived. It is TEMPORARY.
Break a law, and you commit a crime; you're a criminal. Doesn't matter what the law is. The law could be that you can't wave with your left hand on Thursdays.
Their are practical reasons for a country to monitor who enters it and how they are doing. Having 1-4% of a country's population be undocumented is a problem and it needs to be addressed. I'm not saying that illegal aliens are necessarily bad people, but they did break the law.
Get all the thieves and criminals out. Once they cross the border they are not undocumented they are criminals plain and simple. If you qwant to come to America do it right work for it like my family and many others did
not at all because this man is a ******* retard for letting illegals do what they want
