Looking for a good restaurant to go to on my upcoming trip to Philadelphia. Where is the best place to eat at? Also where is the best place to get a real philly cheesesteak sandwich?
Philadelphia has so many wonderful restaurants; what sort of restaurant (cuisine, etc) are you looking for? To start with, here is Philly Magazine's current list of the top 50 restaurants in the city. There are some excellent suggestions here:
Places I've had terrific meals at recently include Rex 1516, Kanella, and Amis. Longtime favourites include Fork (I even had my wedding reception there!), Parc, Osteria, and all of the Jose Garces restaurants (Amada, Distrito, JG Domestic, Village Whiskey, Tinto...). Whatever you do, be sure to stop by Capogiro for the greatest gelato in the world!
As far as cheesesteak places go, you can get a decent enough steak at pretty much any pizza & hoagie place in the area. The popular ones are Pat's, Geno's, Jim's, and Tony Luke's. Of those four, I personally prefer Jim's on South Street, but for my money, John's Roast Pork (14 E. Snyder Ave in South Philly) is the place to go.
I honestly cant answer the restaurant one there are too many good ones lol as far as steaks go Genos is really good with a couple drips of their volcanic hot sauce Jims is very good too.
