RNA polymerase is used to make strands of RNA by pairing RNA nucleotides with DNA nucleotides when the DNA strand is being replicated. DNA polymerase is the enzyme that is doing the DNA replication. Both are occuring simultaneously during DNA replication but are performing these separate, unrelated tasks.
An RNA polymerase transcribes DNA into RNA, in a process called transcription; the DNA polymerase copies DNA into new DNA strands, in a process called replications.
