No offense..but while the riff is somewhat difficult..once you got it down... it basically is just the same thing over and over again. Same with the drums and Bass.

The vocals are no better and no worse than the " average" Dm band, and yes, I find their lyrics, monotonous and childish.

On the other hand..if thats what you like.. mor epower to you. Just don't ram it down my throat, nad we are kosher. And I won't ram my Symphonic/Melodic Death and Black Metal down your throat.

As for talent? Speaking as a Metal musician..they are truly average at best. The reason they got famous is they were amongst the first hyper-gore bands..and 13 year old boys the world over still get off on that kind of mindless nonsense. Yet..they are still admittedly more talented than bands like Suicide Silence...though SS at least has somewhat intelligent lyrics (you just can't understand the damn things)

If you desire similiar, yet more intelligent lyrics..with far more talented musicians..try Carcass. Mike Ammot owns anything CC has ever tried to lay down.

**Actuually... good Death Metal has great lyrics. Arch enemy and Bolt Thrower have really well written lyrics. BUT.. I will definitely say.. to each their own. Not my idea of good music..but not my place to judge their fans either.

Apparently they're one of those bands that are brutal just for the sake of being brutal, and that the lyrics have no depth, just straight gore. Another reason I've heard is that they're just not "heavy" anymore... that is, there are more bands that are more gruesome in a more refined way, not just with gore lyrics and whatever. "Entrails Ripped from a Virgin's Cun+" anyone?

I personally love CC, but these are some reasons that I've heard as to why people don't.

I cannot believe you just said "who cares about the lyrics? death metal isn't about the lyrics" that's so untrue. I love lyrics.....I'm a melodic death metal fan and I like to listen to great lyrics thank you very much.

as for Cannibal Corpse....eh gorey stuff seems pretty stupid to me, when it's OVERLY DONE. I like gore...but Cannibal Corpse goes over the edge and makes it just be "oh I wanna be hard and cool so I'll sing about bloody porn" yeah. that's WAY cool.

The gorest I can get is Bloodbath.

and Cannibal Corpse...well their mostly known for their lyrics and vocals...I like melody in my metal which CC does not do that...they are just BORING musically. and as for the vocals....hmph, all they do is growl and it sounds like nonsense. don't get me wrong, I love growls...but it's just NOISE.

I like George Fisher's other band, Paths Of Posession....see now he has real great growls in that band. That shows he DOES in fact have talent. yay! but CC does not let the talent flow....only blood.

I think it's a combination of the intensity of the music, and the disturbingness of the lyrics... They're definitely an acquired taste, and the lyrics are a bit difficult to get past (especially if you're a religious person.) I absolutely love them, and they're amazing musicians, but I can understand why people dislike them...

with all due respect dude, well I actually love the music as far as the lyrics I really don't care to listen about chopped up body parts, death and female genitalia and all kinds of other diced objects its just not my thing, you know? its just NOT ME thank you but NO. BUT, thank god I don't pay attention really enough to understand what the hell the guy is saying I just don't sit there and intently listen for the gore I just jam to the music SO there really isn't a problem there

The WoW thing is the only thing I've ever liked about them. If they are talented as you say they are then they should play in a good band. Maybe they are talented, i don't know. But they lose all credit when they make those lyrics.

That does look like it takes talent but again, when you make a song called "i c*m blood" it loses all credibility with me.

I don't care about the lyrics. I listen for the MUSIC!

They're like the DragonForce of death metal-- ridiculous lyrics, and all the songs sound the same.
