I served Irish Guards 1980-1991 but have seen on the news now they are letting women in the Infantry they are letting them wear the tunics, i was always told the tunic is a symbol of the regiment and the achievement of it, since women never fought in it do they honestly have a right to wear it, i know i may be old fashioned i remember homosexuality being a Dishonourable discharge instantly back when i served so maybe im just out the times.
Update:iansand yes Falklands 82 & NI.

Think you are massively out of touch. As long as the woman or he/she can do the job and the same fitness standards, NOT an easier version of it, but the same. Then that's fine. As for the whole tunic thing, that's just stupid sorry, there's plent of dress uniforms, headress ect that have unit citations on them, e.g. my unit wear it's marron beret with a little black ribbon on the back, for a battle that happened over 50yrs before I was born, but I still wear it and I'm pretty sure your tunic was earned a couple of hundred years before you were born to.
Every trial conducted showed that all Male teams constantly outperformed mixed teams or all Female tests. Medical Professionals also agree Females carrying heavy loads over long distances are more like to suffer from injuries than Males.
Whole thing is just PC nonsense. The have already changed all the fitness tests for Infantry to allow for them to pass. They will not have to earn anything, Females are simply there to appease the snowflakes and equality idiots who have never served a day in theatre with an Infantry section.
A lot of things have changed world-wide. Females and people with different orientations
and have the new men that are members of the regiment, have they fought before to earn the tunic?
you should probably ask this in YA UK which is that way <-----
I don't think any Americans are going to be able to answer your question
Did you ever fight? If not, how dare you wear the tunic.
