Hi, I'm a 14 year old boy from Liverpool and I wish to join the military after I've got through school and uni. However I'm torn between RMC, British Paras and the Raf Regiment. I would like to be considered an elite soldier who is respected by other military units. Which one should I join.
Any help appreciated

Royal Marines Commando - haven't done a major seaborne landing since the Suez crisis back in 1956. I know, I spent over 6 months in basics - and most of the following 15 years on terra firma. Boots on the ground.
Para's - same as above. Their last operational drop was also the Suez crisis - so long ago they've had their "jump money" rescinded. You'd have to be hitting 80 to have participated in that operation. Boots on the ground.
RAF Regiment - Main role asset protection in both offensive and defensive operations. Boots on the ground.
The choice is yours - no one else's.
Paras ,Royal Maureens nor RAF Regiment are not considered elite in the British Military and are certainly not liked very much by other Regiments
You think you want to join something that you have no real idea about. You're 14 you have plenty of time to research and find which career path is best for, we can't choose.
Paras are better for Quick reaction Air Assault
RAF Regt are better for force protection
Maureens like playing in boats and being a whole brigade can offer more variation and different roles
You haven't understood the most basic thing:
Your attitude, your skills, your dedication and professionalism will make you a respected person. Not the regiment you belong to.
You are 14.. so whatever I tell you know, you will have forgotten anyway by the time you finish uni. So what I can tell you right now : Being an "elite" starts *now* .. at school. Start by being the Best of your class !
PS: You're young, so you can be excused. But in the future, do NOT ask people about what *you should do*. The Army is not a babysitting institution. What you should join is solely dependant on your decision. I seriously hate it when people want to be something special but can't take the most basic decision about themselves.
You will find the the different Branches and regiments have respect for each other whether they are elite or not as in most cases it takes a non-elitist to get the elitist to where he wants to go without the specialist training to do the job
~Perhaps you'll understand when you are older. the Guards are elite but they need cooks to eat and drivers to get them there and back
why do people always compare the para and boot necks with the RAF reg?
its like comparing specialist, well trained soldiers with a bunch of rejected soldiers looking after a airbase.
;) its a joke, anyway the paras and marines are both seen as 'elite' forces in the UK though one is being slowly removed from practice (sadly). the para's do airborne based attacks on enemy locations. the marines are water based and thus attack from the platform the navy is, both are rivals to each other, both are spearhead units and you DO NOT JOIN THE OTHER BECAUSE YOU FAILED THE ENTRANCE TO THE OTHER.
on a second note, a have meet a ton of people who quit the RM training because "when i compared myself to my peers, i saw that they lived to join and fight, i just did not feel like they did" so yer.
