The boot device LED on my motherboard (Sabertooth 990FX) is on, my computer boots fine. But it takes two tries, the first it goes to this thing that looks like the normal boot screen but no emblem of asus. The second try it always works. Any ideas?

The new asus boards will boot twice if you have an overclock or memory wsithc set on the motherboad as it is first detecting (diagnoses) then boots. You need to make sure all of the feature tunning button are turned on on the sabertooth.
The new asus boards always see to do a double boot check when you power the pc off completely and then on again.
If you left it connected to the main power socket all the time it should just single boot after that.
If you have installed any of the Asus software in windows remove the asus suite as it is not needed and causes too many problems apart fro slowing down your pc. In BIOS boot menu set -OPTION ROM messages to "keep current" pressf10 then save and exit.
