I am a freshman at a high school looking to get into an ivy-league caliber school. My grades are excellent, but I worry a bit about my extracurricular activities. I do my school's academic team, business club, umpire for a little league, play baseball and basketball outside of school in an organized league, help physically challenged people play baseball, and am a member of a tutoring program. The problem is that the time commitment to each is not a lot, and I really can't control that. The clubs meet once a week for half a year, umping is only in spring, sports are seasonal and twice a week in season, volunteer is only in spring, haven't gotten a call for tutoring, etc. Will top colleges look down upon that, or will they applaud the effort and should I add more ECs in the following year that require more time (like trying out for school bball team, which I might do)?

They are not looking for you to be in several clubs, they want to see leadership positions in what you do. It is better to start a club, or be a leader in a couple of clubs/ sports than to just join a bunch of actitvties.
