An aritmetic sequence has 1st term -9 and common difference 4.
Find the sum of the first ten POSITIVE terms.
How do you do this?
a(1) = -9
a(n) = -9 + (n - 1) * 4
a(1) =-9
a(2) = -5
a(3) = -1
a(4) = 3 = 1st positive term
10th positive term = 3 + 9 * 4 = 39
Sum = (n/2)(1st + last) = 5 * 42 = 210
