You are asked to dilute a 80 mg/ml stock solution of sucrose. First, you add 7 mL of water (diluent) to tube 1 and add 7 ml of water to tube 2. Next, you transfer 0.5 mL of the sucrose stock solution into tube 1 and mix. Lastly, you transfer 1 mL from tube 1 into tube 2 and mix.
What is the concentration of sucrose in tube 2? Fill in the blank with the correct answer rounding to one decimal point.

After adding 0.5 ml of sucrose sol. to 7 ml in tube 1, now the total sol. is 7.5 ml with 40 mg of sucrose.(because 1 ml contains 80 mg,so 05 ml has 40 mg.) After mixing within tube 1,now 1 ml of this sol has 5.33 mg of sucrose.(7.5 ml has 40 mg,so find for 1 ml). Therefore you are transferring 1 ml from tube 1 (in terms os sucrose it is 5.33 mgs) into tube 2,So the total vol. in tube 2 is 7+1=8 ml which contains 5.33 mgs. of sucrose. So find for 1 ml (to find the concentration) = 0.627mg/ml.
