At the time me and my ex-gf split up, a woman added me on facebook. she had no mutual friends. a selection of profile pictures. her friends list appears hidden. as do comments on her wallposts. so it looks as if shes replying to herself. also, on her profile there is a reccomend friends feature for her. when i looked at her info the email adress on her profile was my exs however she said my ex had hacked it an changed the email. i believe this woman is my ex as an alies, how can i find out for sure.

Also, I appreciate that this is probably my ex. I just need a way to prove it. I've heard about tracing user IPs and such, but I'm no computer expert.

It is her. That is clear. delete her from your friend list and see what happens. when she asks why say because you "don't add people who you don't know in real life. For all I know you can be a 60 year old man" see how insistent she is about adding you back. usually people who don't know you personally will just accept that you deleted them. If she keeps trying then she has hidden motives.
Same thing happened to me a while ago but I hacked her page which is wrong and hard to do if you don't know her email address that she used for the page. You could ask her for her email address then search it on google and see if it links to anything else, other networking sites. If not then it was probably just created for the fake account.
The account email is the biggest tip off.
If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't as the old saying goes.
Its highly improbable that this random user got "hacked" by your ex. It is quite probable however that your ex created a fake account so she could check up on you. I would delete the person post-haste.
It's pretty obvious it is her. Even if it wasn't, she is still a stranger so don't be friends with her.
