I'm asking this question because I'm a bit self-conscience about going out on a date because I never dated anyone before. I'm 25 and I generally want to "step up to my game" so to speak.
Are women attracted to shy guys or is it a turn-off? Should I just remain single?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "strong Black women"... I am strong, but I can also be very bashful, gentle, and sensitive. I love "shy Black guys" and I am especially attracted to the Black "nerds". My last bf was a video game playing, anime wathing, musician (a music major in college) who struggled with females because he was always afraid to approach one. My current bf is a black belt (a real martial arts buff) who also plays video games (geeky stuff like Lord of the Rings...... and I often play video games with him), played the clarinet and sax in grade school, and is currently a cook. He's very quiet-natured and introverted and he admitted to me when he first approached me that he went beyond his comfort zone to speak to me because he is a shy guy. I'm so sick of society claiming that all Black women want is a thug because it's not true. I've never dated a thug nor have a desired one. I like my quiet Black "geeks"!
Being shy doesn't have to be a turn-off as long as you can open up to the person over time as you both gain trust and more understanding of one another. My current bf was shy indeed (and so was I), but as we interracted with each other, we grew closer and we couldn't help but to just fully open up to one another because we were/are so compatible.
Good luck! And don't believe that bullsh*t about Black women not liking shy guys and only wanting thugs!
I'm very shy, however, I'm a strong black woman. I wouldn't mind another shy person. I'd probably do all the talking but that's ok.
Agree with % that black women are sexy.
On to your question: just be yourself my man. Women are attracted to all different types of dudes so you can't really go wrong. You may have to come out of your shell a little to let the woman know you are interested, but still be who you are.
I'm usually attracted to shy guy and love break them out of their shells ;-)
Well I'm not single but when I was, I dated shy guys as long as they weren't "too shy". I don't like being labeled a "strong black woman" I'm just me.
Why am I getting thumbs downs for answering the question?
