I suggest looking up old 18th/19th century news bulletin comics. The comic artists almost always used a single scene to make a serious situation comical. Another suggestion: There are many stories of women meeting their husbands in home-improvement stores. If you look at this from an angle, it's as if the home-improvement stores sell men.
