I am writing an article for my school newspaper and i need some thoughts oh how democracy in Iran should be achieved (such as: should the US step in?) or why democracy in Iran should not be achieved (such as:democracy would not solve their problems). Which is more ideal for both Iran and the rest of the world?

that should be up to the people of Iran
If the Iranian people want a democracy, then they'll have to bring it about themselves.
What they have is a theocratic dictatorship, run by Muslims, who will not tolerate other religious beliefs, and they even force their own people to adhere strictly to their idea of what Islam should be.
It really doesn't say much for these Islamic people that their own government has to force them to adhere to all of the "requirements" of a religion.
They tolerate no opposition and no individual thinking.
And no, the USA has no business dictating to other nations/cultures how they should run their own affairs---as long as it doesn't interfere with other countries, and endanger others.
Our US government is not the policemen of the world, noone ever asked them to, and they already stick their collective noses into the business of other countries too much as it is; that's why most of the world hates the US government anyway.
I don't personally care what Iran does within its own borders, as long as it doesn't threaten other countries/religions/cultures.
It seems to me that the Iranian people got what they asked for; and much more.
Iran should work towards acquiring an Atom bomb (more than one, actually) in order to avoid running the same fate as Iraq.
Other countries, like the terrorist state of Israel, have not been prevented from having hundreds of A bombs. Iran should acquire at least one for purposes of self defense.
Americans should concentrate to fix their country's sorry state of affairs instead of acting as world police.
Technically it is since the leaders are voted in,but power wise they have too big of a government for democracy. They need to reform the government a bit. No,it's really none of our business. We already are already fighting two wars in Southwestern Asia.Iranians (most of them) are very displeased with the government there, and want change. They will be able to do it themselves.
iran has a democracy...it might not be perfect but neither is ours ( remember bush and the supreme court) and we certainly have ZERO right to step in. hasn't our "nation building" been a big enough disaster already?
Yes, what's 5 or 6 trillion more....
Implementing Christianity in Iraq and Afghanistan has worked so well for us.
For the Iranian people to decide and for the people to be represented by their government
No. Whats the point you guys will always recede into tyranny.
who are we to say what, or what not they should do. We have enough problems right here at home.
YES. GET SADDAM OUT OF THERE! HE SHOULD HANG.
