My psych just put me on Seroquel to balance out my moods and I took them for the first time last night it was really hard to wake up this morning because they made me so drowsy and im still really tired from them and its been almost 24 hours. I told my therapist and he seemed to think it was normal and they told em it could make me tired at first but this is way more tiredness then I expected. Have any of you taken this drug and did you have these side effects??

I Have been taking Seroquel for a very long time. It stops the manic as you know and helps you sleep. You can have temporary tiredness until your body adjusts. Possibly your dosage is to high. But don't stop taking it without your doctors help or a replacement as you won't be able to sleep at night and could suffer withdrawal symptoms. I needed to add a little more to my prescribed dosage so I cut another one in half, taking one and a half at night. If after a week or so you feel the same tiredness during the day I would try cutting one in half and trying the half. If this doesn't help you probably need another medication. There are many more that serve the same purpose. Good Luck to you.
One of Seroquel's side effects is indeed drowsiness. When first using the drug you will notice a tired feeling. It should pass after about a couple of weeks as your body gets use to the drug.
I used to take 900mg and tiredness is defiantly a side effect. Seroquel works on histamine receptors, so it makes you sleepy. Another big side effect that I had problems with is severe dry mouth and that really messed up my teeth. It also commonly causes nasal congestion. It is a good drug, but I couldn't deal with the effects and after 5 years I had to throw in the towel.
Common: Constipation; dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting, especially when getting up from a lying or sitting position; drowsiness; dry mouth; increased weight; indigestion Less common: Abdominal pain; abnormal vision; decrease in appetite; decreased strength and energy; feeling of fast or irregular heartbeat; headache; increased muscle tone; increased sweating; stuffy or runny nose In terms of Seroquel withdrawal, this drug is not known to be habit forming.
I was on seroquel for years it does work but beware it makes you hungry at night and all the people i talked to said the same thing! it will most likely make you gain weight!!!
I have been on 300MG for about 6 months. I have gained 40 pounds and get wicked headaches. It used to make me really hungry but I dont seem to get that as much these days.
