I am in the process of designing a new home , and i am thinking of a side entry garage. My question is how much entry space in front of garage (turning radius) is needed ? is 25 ' from edge of lot to front of garge enough room ?

Strictly maneuvering a car, tight but doable. A car can typically make that tight of a turn (thought it was, but double checked my reference books, and yep) But the question is this, Is there an easement or setback that would prohibit the driveway there. You have to clear it with usually two places, the area plan department or commission. They should be able to tell you if there are any setbacks, utility, drainage or other easements that will prohibit a drive with the edge on the property line. Also the subdivision if applicable. Some have covenants that prohibit certain elements. Sometimes they may restrict the minimum pitch of the roof, limit certain exterior materials. The restrictions may include driveways.
And as some else noted, include an area beyond the garage door to turn around. Should be a minimum of ten feet. If you want to park a third car, you need at least twenty feet.
We had a 30 ft apron in front of the 2 car garage and found both cars could back out easily to exit the drive in reverse.
However, if you needed to exit facing forward (out), as we did, the car in the left bay didn't have much room to maneuver. Because our drive was a rather steep hill we added an additional areabeyond the apron to make the swing and provide additional parking.
It also provided a place for snow to be plowed without obstructing the garage.
Check not just building codes but also your local zoning regs. Zoning can differ from neighbourhood to neighbourhood and from street to street. Some older neighbourhoods have draconian laws about garages, which in the old days were often thought of as ugly and trashy-looking.
In my old neighbourhood not only were front-facing garages not allowed, but the garage had to be invisible to a person standing directly in front of the house. This meant that all garages had to be behind the house facing backwards.
what a waste of space. consider a traditional garage.
