Or perhaps do a "road trip" through a couple of states or a country or several countries! visit fun places, not just historically nice places. ex. visit route 66, there are so many weird things there. Or perhaps if you like military history write about how it affected your city state county or even just north America in general! whatever u do get creative! good luck and have fun
World history is the most interesting...there's a lot of things u can work on, such as exploration by ppl like Columbus, Captain Cook and Magellan, to conquests of nations by ppl like Genghis Khan and Conquistadors, to exotic empires like Persia, Byzantine and China, to the rise of religions like Islam and Christianity, to the ages of learning by Catholic monks and Arab scholars, to medieval times like the Crusades...
