Trying to decide between a 2010 Macbook Pro 13" and a Sony Vaio EA VPCEA2JFX/B
I don't really care about which OS I have, as I love Windows 7--I'm more interested in getting a laptop with better hardware.
Here are the specs:
Macbook Pro 13:
Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB Memory
250GB hard drive
SD card slot
Built-in battery (7-8 hours)
NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics
Cost $1,199.00
Sony Vaio:
Intel® Core™ i5-540M (2.53GHz)
14" LCD
4GB RAM
320GB of memory
Blu-ray player
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5470 GPU (512MB VRAM
large capacity battery (4-5 hours)
Cost $1099.00
which will give me faster performance, and be a better investment if I'm using this primarily for
Microsoft Office, video streaming, watching movies, and some light gaming?

of 2 options, Sony vaio matches your need. faster performance, better investment and hardware as it meets more than your primarily use as well. just for your reference visit this link http://www.nbbatt.com/
While I strongly prefer Mac, I won't make any Mac/Windows arguments right now. Let me explain the problem with Sony Vaios: They do not give you drivers. You can't download them. You can't buy them. You can't get a CD of them. The only thing Sony will give you is a recovery disk that puts Windows 7 back the way it was when you bought the computer. Wanna downgrade to XP? Tough. Want to upgrade to Windows 8 when it comes out? Tough. Want to try Linux? Tough. You get Windows 7 for ever and ever.
In your case, the Sony has superior hardware; however, I'd recommend that you find a third laptop with an Intel i5 + ATI or NVIDIA graphics chip.
Hi Ian,
The Sony Vaio has a fast, powerful processor and more hard drive space. The Blu-ray player on the Sony is also a great feature. If you want to make sure the graphics card is sufficient for gaming, I recommend you check out the requirements of the games you intend to play.
I hope this helps.

The MacBook Pro is rated higher that the Sony but the Sony is a good Windows laptop. Personally I'd go with the Mac since I have used them before. If you are a Windows person, get the Sony, you'll rarely use the Blu-ray player though.
Definitely 100% the vaio would be a better investment. Better processor, bigger screen, graphics, everything about the vaio is better, and its hard to run microsoft word on a mac... However the mac is probably more user friendly so if ur going to use it for college or anything that simple then maybe you want it. IN my opinion though the vaio is a better investment all the way.
