I've never really been interested in Star Trek as a kid (18), I've always been interested in Star Wars and science fiction but I never really thought about giving the shows or a movies a chance. So this is kind of a 3 part question:
1. How is the show Star Trek?
2. How are the Star Trek movies?
3. My dad (who I'm guessing is a fan) told me I should've saw Star Trek in theatres this year and a friend liked it so I ask What did you think Star Trek Into Darkness?
Is it out on DVD?

1. The first Star Show came out in 1966, Star Trek as a whole will be 50 years old 2016 (including movies)
- The Original Series (1966-1969) _ It is my favorite. It has great stories and deals with issues that are important to people. Technology featured in the show have become reality or so some day, a great example would be the cell phone.
-The Next Generation (1987-1994)__Not my favorite but okay. It to deals with social issues. When episode dealt with the environment. It to has brought forth technology such as the iPad and other touch screen devices was featured in this series.
-Deep Space Nine (1993-1999)__It is okay. This series is not one of the best.
-Voyager (1995 -2001)__My second favorite, this show has issues and question to life mysteries. In one episode, it dealt with the question what happens when we die? It never got answered.
-Enterprise (2001-2005) - is a prequel series (set in the 22 century)
Over all star trek is a great series, but is not for everyone. It is completely different from star wars. Star Trek deals with social issues.
2. The first move came out in 1979.
-Star Trek The Motion Picture.
-Wrath Of Khan (1982)
-The Search For Spock (1984)
-The Voyage Home (1986)
-The Final Frontier (1989)
-The Undiscovered Country (1991)
- Generations (1994)
-First Contact (1996)
-Insurrection (1998)
-Nemesis (2002)
-Star Trek (2009)
-Into Darkness (2013)
The movies are generally good and enjoyable. The classic are best and hold true to Roddenberry while the new versions tend to be action oriented with exception of the latest which deal issue are dealing today.
3. It is a good film. As classic trekkie, I was pleased with the movie. The film is good for what it is. I am excited to see how events will play out in a parallel/alternate reality and how similar it is to the still existing prime reality (classic trek). I like how they brought in Khan in the film and how different he is from the one that classic khan is. In conclusion, the film has a great story that does play out differently from the classic trek, and yet is so different.
First off Star Wars is fantasy not Science Fiction. It's fantasy on other planets with space ships. If that's what you like, I don't know that you'd like Star Trek.
1. How is the show Star Trek? In my opinion it is Star Trek is one of the greatest most revolutionary shows in history, if not the best show...but that's an opinion that could be supported by evidence. Anyways, Star Trek is Science Fiction and deals with lots of social and what if questions. You must realize it was filmed in the 60's, but to me, the point of the shows were not about the science fiction, but about the story an the message. So if you can get past the camp, the messages are great. It is also good if you know what was historically going on at that time in history. Also, remember the acting is done by stage actors and not film actors so it is a bit over dramatic. However, it is a great show with lots to offer. I'd watch these first.
2. I have only seen the first once and don't remember it. The second is the greatest one. The second through 4th is sort of one long continuos story. I know people don't like the 5th, but I did. I don't remember seeing the 6th.
3. Star Trek Into Darkness. I liked it. It had it's issues, which I'm not going to address. You must have prior Star Trek Knowledge of the movies (one in particular) and the show somewhat to understand it. Therefore, go to your local library or Netflix, quickly go thorough the seasons and then the movies and then you'll understand Star Trek Into Darkness.
If you're a typical 18 y.o. Star Wars fan, I doubt Star Trek would be to your taste. It's not for the ADHD crowd. There aren't fight scenes and explosions every 2 minutues. There's camp and over-acting, and it focuses on boring stuff like science, history, politics, social issues. The last two movies are jazzed up versions of the classic series, directed by another Star Wars fan who couldn't get into Star Trek either.
So in answer to your questions:
1. I love the various TV series, and can watch most of the episodes several times. You'll probably struggle to get through the first viewing.
2. I love them. You'd probably be asleep within 5 min.
3. I liked it, with some reservations. The original cast & crew will still be remembered long after this film has passed from memory.
1) The show Star Trek is fascinating. Each episode is unique and has different adventures.
2) There is actually a Star Trek Movie Curse: Even-numbered films are superior to the odd-numbered films.
3) "Star Trek into Darkness" was exciting and had good humor. It took elements from the "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" movie. It was even better than the previous Star Trek movie, which was also great.
"Star Trek into Darkness" is out on DVD on September 10, 2013.
Moreover to what others have mentioned famous person Wars used to be at the beginning a series of books, star Trek was once made for television. There's also the film celebrity Trek which isn't like the television series and there are exclusive begin Trek "generations" on tv. Superstar Wars is where mild sabers, Darth Vader, the loss of life famous person, Chewbaka, Yoda, and the Millennium Falcon came from.
better watch a movie, than read a written reserve.Of course,it is better to get a much better picture by watching the action(images),then browsing through each one of these indicated words.
Once you read a reserve you see the story how you want to imagine it not what sort of director wants you to see it
