Tomorrow morning I am driving from Orange County, CA to Woodland Hills, CA. I am supposed to take the 5N to the US-101. will I hit LA traffic? how bad do you think it'll be? I am supposed to be in woodland at 10am.. how early should i leave? route takes 1hr and 42 min... but what about LA traffic? do any of you commute through LA that can give me an idea of what to expect??

Obviously, the previous posters have no idea of LA traffic firsthand.
Regardless of route, you will hit considerable traffic. Normally, I would just recommend the 5. Yes, it's only 3 lanes for some parts, but it may beat the 405. (They call it the 405 because you go 4 o' 5 miles per hour).
Leaving at 6:00 (or 7 at the latest) is a good idea. If you don't hit a lot of traffic, you can always grab a bite in Woodland Hills. Taking the 405 just might be a good option. Taking the 5, you'll hit traffic all the way from the LA County line through downtown. I would just stay on I-5, all the way to the 134, then take the 134 west to the 101. The 405 option, you'll hit the worst traffic between the 110 and the 10 (the notorious South Bay Curve). After the 10, you should be home free.
Check sigalert.com just before you leave, and see which has the most traffic.
U r taking the worst route possible u should take 405 to 110 to 101 for some insane reason the 5 is only 3 lanes on each side going through downtown LA. Any way u do choose is going to be backed up though so definitely give yourself at least an hour more than needed
If your appointment is important, leave at 6 am. If there are no problems - a possibility - have a leisurely breakfast in Woodland Hills. If there are problems, a 2 hour lead time should take care of it.
