So I got my cartilage pierced about 3 months ago at Claire's, I know about all of the horror stories about getting your cartilage pierced with a gun but given that it was my first piercing I wanted it to be done quickly as the needle method seem like a longer period of pain. But now I want to get may tragus pierced and since you can't have it done with a gun I was wondering if having you tragus pierced with a needle hurts more than getting a cartilage piercing with a gun?
Also if you wouldn't mind can you please describe the process of getting your tragus pierced and what it feels like, and if you have had it done what would you compare the pain to?
I'm so sorry for the long description I'm just really nervous and would like to know what is about all answers will be greatly appreciated thank you!:)x

I'm not going to say getting your tragus pierced doesn't hurt, because it does. A cartilage piercing with a gun, is nothing compared to your tragus. I've had several piercings and here's how bad each of the hurt:
1) Industrial (Absolutely unbearable on the pain scale, it was horrific. Still can't sleep on it after 8+ months)
2) Rook (It hurt pretty damn bad, and it's constantly infected)
3) Tragus (see below)
4) Belly Button (Needle is thick at 14g, but doesn't really hurt)
5) Cartilage (Quick and virtually painless *with a gun)
6) Lobes (Obviously painless)
Firstly, they'll clean the area with a alcohol swab, and have you either lay down or sit down, spending on the piercer. They mark the area with a marker and let you see to make sure you like it. They'll use a 16g hollow needle, which I believe is two times thicker than your cartilage, but thinner than a 14g belly button or tragus barbell. After they push the needle through your ear, they'll push the barbell into the hallow tube and use it to guide the needle out of your ear. This seems like quite a long process, but it's pretty quick.
If you really want it, go for it! They're really cute and they're pretty easy to clean/maintain :)
Good luck!
