PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! DO NOT BUY THE 2002 EXPLORER!!! I currently own an '02 Explorer and they are definitely problem vehicles. I don't know much about the Trailblazer but if you google the '02 Explorer and transmission problems, you will find thousands of complaints on these vehicles. The '02 Explorer is INFAMOUS for having transmission problems by 80K miles. Mine is at 83K and currently going out and we're looking at $3-$4K for a rebuilt transmission, so we're are currently in the process of trading it in before it goes out completely. I've also researched that about half the owners ended up having to dish out more $$$ because the problem returned. Something about the way they built the transmission for this model. You can go on several different sites to see consumer and expert reviews on both of these vehicles. But save yourself and your wallet some headache, do not go with the '02 Explorer Model.
The Explorer has more room inside, but I would avoid both of them. They are unreliable, poor handling, bad gas mileage, and are the main reason that Ford & GM are on the verge of collapse. If you must get a used SUV, pick a Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder (or Xterra), or Toyota Fourunner. All of those are more reliable, better handling, and get better mileage. Hello, it's 2008.
none of those, they are piece of crap. Get a toyota sequoia they're HUGE!!!!!
I drive one, I did buy an explorer the same type as 2002 but they cause too much problems. one of my cylinders didn't work so instead of a V8, it was a V7. And it didn't pass the emission test so I got rid of it it was around 90K too...
