My laptop crashed and i had to do a system restore. How can I get my songs from my ipod back onto my itunes? When i plug in the ipod all the music on it cannot be highlighted or anything.
They make free software that you can download that allows for you to take the music off your iPod to the computer in question. I just ran a search, and I'm not sure if any of these are free, but at least you'll get the idea.
Did you buy all of your songs on Itunes? Because if you did, then you can get them back =]. If you didn't (I know it sucks) but you can't. Ipods are built so that you can't steal music. Basically, they made it so that if you take music from your friends comp, you can't just go and put it on yours. Your computer crashed, and now it doesn't remember that you own these songs, and so you cannot access them. The same thing happened to me =[.
If you did get the songs of Itunes though, then you can get your songs back onto the computer =]!!!!!!!!!!!. All you got to do is plug your ipod in, and click 'File', then 'Transfer Purchases' Depending what version of itunes you have it may also say 'Transfer Purchases from _____'s Ipod' (Your name will be where the blank is)
1. Use a jack from your ipod to computer and upload.
2. and this is a neat trick: If you want to record all the songs you want for free, just take a double male stereo jack which you can pickup at radio shack and simply plug it into your speaker out and loop it back to your mic in. Then with any recording software that you can get free from cnet like this one http://download.cnet.com/Expstudio-Audio-Editor-Fr... , you simply record what is playing! It's super easy and then you can keep it there for itunes or download to your ipod or itouch.
3. If you don't want to do that, here is a software well worth it's money. Download the sample. It records everything you want and includes cover art, song name, artist, etc! I love it...
Only songs purchased on the iTunes store can be transferred from your iPod back to your computer. Songs off of CD's must be manually re-installed. The same thing happened to me but I luckily had just backed up all my music on to an external hard drive. Hope this helps.
same thing happend to me in the summer but sadly there is No way to get songs from and ipod to a computer so you have to re download them ALL from somewhere like dowloads.nl or limewire or cds

you can only transfer purchases from iPod to computer.
Just got to "File" and then select "Transfer Purchses".
Next time, backup your library to an external harddrive.
This is what I learned because the same thing happened to me.
There are programs you can download to get all the songs off and onto the computer but many are unsafe (virus) and pricey
