Hola! Tengo una pregunta en mi proyekto en español, Can anyone please help me, por favor? I am only a student in Espanol Tres, so no entiendo todo español..haha i sucked..So we are doing a teacher student skit on a lecture on ser vs. estar and I have to do it in Spanish. So here’s what I am going to say. (EVERYTRHING HAS TO BE IN SPANISH!)
“OK, class. Today I will talk about the different usage of ser and estar. As you know, ser and estar mean ‘to be’ but they have very specific uses. These verbs cannot be substituted for one another. Ser is used to describe basic traits and permanent characteristics. And these are are nationality or origin, proffesion, physical traits, basic personality traits( SO AFTER THIS SENTENCE MY STUDENT WILL CUT ME OFF IN HERE, SO I WILL CONTINUE WITH ) Ok, class in a piece of paper, write down the different uses of ser and estar”( AND THAT’S THE END OF MY LINE) So, My favor for anyone in here is, can u please translate my line ( I put it in italics and bold ) into Spanish using only simple Spanish vocab? Atencion clase. A hora, voy hablar la differencia de ser y estar. Como todos saben , ser y estar se enefica ''ser'' pero tienen usos muy específicos. Estos verbos no se puede sustituir por otros. Ser esta usado para describir rasgos básicos y características permanentes. Y estos son son de nacionalidad o origen,proffesion, rasgos físicos, rasgos de personalidad básica. Vale, clase. Hoy voy a hablar de los usos differentes de ser y estar. Como se sabe (If you haven't learned the "se persona" yet, just use the Vosotros or Ustedes form of saber), ser y estar significan "to be", pero tienen usos diferentes. Estos verbos no se puede (same here--vosotros or ustedes if need) cambiar por el uno y el otro. Se usa (same here) "ser" para describir característicos básicos y característicos definitivo, como el nationalidad y origen, el profésion, los aspectos físcos, y característicos básicos de la personalidad.

Hello, here goes my translation... let me tell u first of all that I'm not translating literally because if you want to SAY this to someone it will be rather akward to say "decimoseptimo (17th)" and to tell u the truth I don't really think anyone ever says that!!! that's why I translated it like I did... In fact... if you're saying it, I would just say "feliz cumpleaños" and leave out the "numero 17" part, but I'm trying to translate as you asked anyway... "Feliz Cumpleaños numero 17!
