Stupid question,of course Rome! Cause there are the most to do and it's the more magnificent,beautiful and has better atmosphere than Paris.In Rome every new visitor have to see Coliseum and if you want to go in the building.Other sightseeings you must to see being in Rome are Trevi fountains(really amazing),piazza venezia and Vatican.Of course Parthenon also is famous,then if you have a chance see Roman & Imperial Forums and Spanish Steps. I think every person must see Rome.

And don't forget to taste the REAL pizzas,pastas and coffee!

p.s. If you have much time you can go to Florence by train,but it's quite far...

It would be hard to go wrong with either. It really depends on your specific interests and preferences. I particularly like the d'Orsay Museum in Paris, but Rome is an interesting place to be at Christmas. With 10 -12 days, you could consider both Paris and Rome. There's a night train from Paris to Milan that will connect to a fast train to Rome.

I personally preferred Paris. I found there was a lot more things to see and do than in Rome.
