The TV makes a bigger statement about you in you home. You can easily see what the set is worth, and everybody has one and knows how to use them. Just from looking at the case of a computer you can't see what is inside of it. If you were going to get one or the other i would go the computer as you can do more with it, and you can always add a TV capture card to it. If it is about "showing off" go for a large TV because people will take more notice of it than an expencive computer.
