Well, I know nothing about the eligibility requirements (check VCAA website, I suppose), but I don't really see the point in doing ESL if you are already averaging Bs in year 11; it's a bit of a cop out if you've been speaking English all your life! :)
There wasn't much difference in the work of the mainstream English students and ESL students in my year last year, the ESLs just did less work basically. I don't think they did much language analysis, but the text response facet of the subject was pretty much the same?? I'm not sure about what they did for the Context section
ESL is rather a misnomer. ESL pupils are relatively English conversing pupils, who've a "custom," language probable spoken at abode or at a grandparents abode. i could have been seen an ESL student (if we had it in those days), through fact my mom and family individuals spoke Spanish to their mothers and fathers. yet they in no way spoke Spanish to us, so we in no way discovered it. So maximum ESL pupils already use English as their dominant language (even nonetheless the acronym stands for English as a 2nd Language). ELL are your actual English Language rookies. They predominantely communicate a language different than English, and would come to college conversing unquestionably no English. So the respond on your question is - ESL pupils already use English in school, around campus, and notably much each place else. they'd be uncovered to a various language at abode - and attempting to earnings and / or shelter their custom language - which includes Spanish, Navajo, Keres, etc. coaching is a much extra complicated company than maximum human beings comprehend. besides the undeniable fact that it would not relatively would desire to be that way - it rather is the way it relatively is at present set up.
One of my college roommates (from India) was asked to take the ESL classes, and she was absolutely insulted. But . . . the thing is, American students (and maybe Australian, for all I know) often come to college woefully unprepared. A lot of students, even if they know English pretty well, could use an extra class in how to compose essays, etc. There are slightly different conventions in different countries.
If money is a problem, you can probably fight it. But, if you take it, there's a good chance you'll do very well, and pick up some things that really will help when you write for other classes. If you take it, make the TEACHER work hard for you!! You should suck every single hint, tip and technique out of him or her.
Good luck . . . and for what it's worth, your English is probably at peer level! (-:
LMFAO!
I don't know if you're eligible, but you definitely need it, Haji.
But studying Aussie English is only going to make your Indian English accent even more incomprehensible.
At any rate, you obviously have a bright future ahead of you. Shortcuts rule! ahhh-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!
