I am leaving for Paris on Tuesday and would like suggestions for vegetarian places to eat. The people I will be with do eat meat, so a place that can accommodate both would be nice.
And, any suggestions as to what to do for New years? We will be staying at Hotel Vernet but we can venture away from that area for sure.
Thank you!

Here's a listing of vegan restaurants: http://www.happycow.net/europe/france/paris/index....
Generally speaking most French restaurants will have a vegetarian choice available to you IF you are a Ovo-lacto vegetarian. If you're a strict vegan (no eggs or dairy) then it can be more of challenge).
For the Ovo-lacto vegetarian there are almost always egg and cheese dishes on the menu. The French make fabulous omelets and that's on the menu in just about every cafe and you could have a different type of cheese every day and not try them all even if you stayed in France for a year.
Be sure to brush up on the vocabulary found on menus. Even salads often have meat of some form in them. Also, don't be afraid to ask how things are prepared. Goose and pork fat find their way in to all sorts of things you might not suspect such as pastries.
Your hotel is right off the Champs Elysee which is a tradtional place where people gather at New Year's Eve. It can get quite crowded and a bit rowdy however.
Mostly all the restaurants will have a Vegetarian part on their menu. I was at the Sofitel Hotel and there were so many restaurants near there (2 blocks from the Eiffel tower) and they had veggie meals so you will be find.
I even have in no way quite had to bypass away a eating place via fact i could no longer arise with some form of veg meal, component dishes ala carte are your chum. it may advise eating onion rings and an component salad, yet i will parent something out. As for eating places that do stable for veggie, and that i will attempt to no longer be too section particular, thai, chinese language, indian, ethiopian, sushi, oftentimes any quasi-hip form place (despite which skill) has stable veg possibilities- it form of facilitates to stay close to an exceedingly great city, there are a pair eating places around me that cater to vegs particularly and that i stay in kansas city with its farm animals marketplace roots so any enormous city will do. Oh yeah and rapid meals- chipolte is a usual, subway is okay yet rather constrained, i dont consume a ton of rapid meals yet maximum have a minimum of an component salad form of element you could artwork with.
