What is the serous deal with Apple and Microsoft. I mean Apple doesn't get nearly a percentage of the BS that comes with Microsoft software's. If you by a PC now you got to get the anti virus, anti spy, anti everything and every five minutes there is still an update. Why doesn't Microsoft just develop a program that instead of deleting the virus just sends it back to the sender. Or better yet make a self developing software that when something new comes out every Monday the original virus protection from 0-F**KING-5 can adapt to it without spending 160 USD for an update that just kills the memory. Also could anyone confirm that Mac's ever get viruses or spy ware.
Also I have been having a severe problem with pop ups even after I switched them off in control panel and on the internet page. Suggestions welcomed but I believe I will switch to Mac by the first of January.

Okay, here is the deal. You are some kid sitting your your basement with a bug up your butt about writing a virus. You have, for the most part, 3 choices of who you want to attack. Microsoft, Apple, or Linux. Now, part of the thrill of writing a virus for you is knowing you do either massive amounts of damage and/or to attempt to get your little hacker nickname publicized (or get your virus mentioned somewhere to brag to your little nerd friends about).
Alternatively, you could be a bad guy with a hell-bent idea that you are going to steal personal information such as bank numbers, credit cards, etc.
Regardless...who are YOU going to attack? The operating system that has about 6% of the market share, the one that has about 3% of the market share, or the one that has 90% of the market share? (The other 1% is the "other" systems)
Logic would clearly indicate that you will attack the 90% share which, as of about 3 years ago used to be over 95% of the market share but it has been slowly falling.
So, be it fame, malicious damage, or criminal reasons you will go after the one most likely to give you what you need. Since this is the primary motivation for MOST virus writers it makes sense that Windows would have the MOST trouble in this area. If one of the others ever does start to climb to the top of the heap, the number of problems you currently see in Windows would go hand in hand. Don't let anyone fool you that these other systems are "more secure" because in reality every system that has ever touted itself as being secure ends up getting broken into at some point. No team of a dozen or so programmers if going to out-think the massive hordes of renegade virus programmers out there. They just lack the motivation to attack the little fish right now when a great white whale swims around them every day.
First of all, you're extremely naive. Apple has just as much BS as MS products do. The products themselves are virtually identical from a functional, security, stability and performance view. Windows is the dominant operating system, therefore most viruses target Windows. It has NOTHING to do with Mac OS X being better or more secure. If Mac OS X was the dominant operating system, Mac OS X would be virus ridden while Windows lovers would be touting their PCs as "virus-free". If you want a confirmation on a Mac Virus, check out this funny video on a Mac virus that's non-malicious (it also demonstrates how ridiculously easy it is to infect a Mac): http://www.troika.uk.com/virus.htm
Most viruses are sent by people who are already infected with a virus (ie a worm). Sending the virus back to them would do nothing (and is quite stupid).
If you're still getting pop-ups, you're probably infected with adware.
If you really want a stable, nearly virus-free platform. Switch to Linux. It's free and your computer already supports it. It also has similar drawbacks to Mac OS X (namely the lack of software and gaming support).
the problem with sending back viruses is identifying if they are viruses (or virii, idk which is the right plural)
just think about this, you downloaded something that you want to use (maybe a game or a photo editing software etc) how would you know if that particular program should NOT be downloaded?
that is the job of antivirus. and thats the reason why they're needed to be updated, you wont know which are the possible malwares and which are not
the self-adapting software without update is technically impossible so lets just forget that...
about that myth that macs can't never get viruses.... well its a myth. a mac is a personal computer too (PC) that uses a software. that in itself will make it vulnerable to viruses. In short, macs DO get virus.
You're spending $160 on antivirus updates? Wow... you're one of the suckers born every minute, aren't you. Get a free AV like AVG or Avast or any of the other decent ones. They update every day or so for free...
Yes i agree
