Introduced in 1992 the redesigned Civic featured the usual increased dimensions as well as more aerodynamic styling. The wagon variant was now only available in the Japanese market where the previous generation wagon was carried over. The old HF model was brought back and renamed VX which was Honda's most fuel efficient model sold at the time. In North America the Si featured a SOHC VTEC valve train where as the VX featured VTEC-E. Continuing in the sporty tradition of the original Civic SiR, Honda sold several similarly equipped variants of the fifth generation car, still referred to as the Civic SiR, in Japan, Asia and Europe. The range of models encapsulated by the SiR nameplate grew to include the hatchback, sedan and CR-X Del Sol, all of which used a slightly evolved form of the Honda's 1.6 liter B16A DOHC VTEC engine, now yielding 170PS.
EG signifies that the civic is of the 5th Generation of Honda Civics (1992-1995),
during these years it was available in coupe, sedan, or hatchback.
okay where does EG come from? or what does it mean?
IMO (in my opinion) EG is taken from the EG6 (civic si-r japanese hatchback, chassis code)
When you look at a Honda Vin it will look like this "JHGEG6" or "2HGEH3"
the 4th 5th and 6th number of the vin is called the chassis code
so the chassis code for the civic si-r japanese = EG6, but many US civics will have the chassis codes similar to this [hatch's =EH2 EH3 coupes =EJ1 EJ2 sedans =EG8 EG9]
Most people call there 92-95 civic's EG's just as a common way to label them.
if you want to buy a new car better you should go through the honda dealers before going there from your side you should do all the researches like price, what are thefeatures you want ,color and etc...but whatever for the first car i would preffer used one after 1 or 2 year you can go for the new one ..
