What is Proscout auditions and are they legitimate?
My grandaughter just tried out yesterday here in Florida and was selected to go to Orlando for further auditions on May 23rd and 24th. My understanding is that Proscout does the initial auditions for Disney, Nickelodeon, and the major networks that is searching for new talent. My daughter has to pay $749.00 before going to Orlando in May. I'm just wondering if all of this on the up an up and if anyone has any input on Proscout.

Proscout is a business that preys upon young wannbe actors and models. Your understanding is wrong. They have nothing to do with auditions for those networks. If they told you that, they are lying. Do not waste the money for Orlando unless your granddaughter is very very good and very very photogenic and you can afford to flush the money down the toilet. It is a huge gamble. Most people who go to proscout gain nothing but an empty wallet. I feel that while they are not exactly a scam, as they do what they say they will do, sort of, they have scammed you if they purport to have anything to do with the casting you mentioned. There are lots of these talent showcase businesses, not because they are interested in talent, but because they want to make a lot of money. I know your granddaughter will be heartbroken if you do not allow her to go, but try to explain to her what reality is. Reality is not paying a lot of money to go to a showcase and becoming a star, that is fantasy.
PROSCOUT IS A SCAM! If you don't think so, go to major markets like LA and New York and tell people that you went to Proscout. You'll get laughed out, guaranteed! Any company that associates with John Robert Powers and John Casablancas is REALLY scammy for those two schools are the scammiest schools, period.
Proscout is NOT an agency! LEGIT Agencies only make money when you do (10% for film/tv and commercials, 20% for commercial print). REAL AGENTS DON'T take $800 upfront.
Proscout is another one of those overpriced seminars where you pay big bucks in hopes to get "discovered." You WON'T get "discovered" unless you're the MOST talented, MOST photogenic, and the MOST wealthy. Otherwise you're the other 500 people who go there and leave $800 poorer!
The creators claim that Wilhelmina and Ford was involved with their creation, when Wilhelmina and Ford have made it clear that they are NOT involved with this. False promises galore! They also give your contact info to scammy schools like John Casablancas, JRP, etc. without your permission.
