I would think that so long as people can pay for electricity, that it wouldn't be a problem. Is this energy crisis I keep hearing about a future concern from resource consumption, or is there a current problem I don't know about?

The energy crisis is something that is currently very feared by many people. In time, if it happens then there will be a solution and people will live in a way that mediocre.
in order to make electricity you need a reaction of some kind, like in a wind turbine wind reacts with the wings and pushes them, making electricity, and in a dam water does the same. however dams and wind turbines are expensive and inconsistent (its not always windy, and droughts do happen) and people are wary of nuclear reactors (which use an atoms strong nuclear force, hence the name) because they can explode and do a lot of damage. that leaves power plants that use natural resources, like coal, which causes global warming and annoying environmentalists. so basically there really aren't any ways to make power that don't have problems like inconsistency, danger, or use of natural resources and that is why the energy problem exists.
Natural resources is the key for electricity.
