Delayed Entry Program (DEP) is where you sign your initial contract and reserve a slot in school, but you dont ship out for at least a few months (I wasnt in this program, I picked MP and was shipped to basic 3 weeks later) You dont get paid during DEP but you do show up for PT (physical training) and it counts toward your 8 year commitment.
Bonuses are money offered to certain MOSs (military occupational specialty).... usually the ones who desperately need more individuals... like fuel handler... last I heard they are offering huge bonuses.
What jobs you are offered depends on your ASVAB and GT scores .... and also your background. If you have had anything more than one or 2 speeding tickets, dont count on being Military Police.
You can be in the delayed entry program for a total of 364 days if you wanted. It is a program that allows you to enlist into the military and then not ship out right away. Primarily used for high school students to enlist after their junior year, then complete their senior and then ship out after graduation.
In simplified terms - DEP is when you don't ship out almost immediately. You can choose a later date to ship out. The above poster defined "bonus" perfectly.
that ur waiting for an opening of the job u sign up 4. cant be longer than a year
