I don't believe it. I think people who claim to have psychic abilities or a supernatural connection of some sort (mediums, etc) and make money off it are definitely con artists (and disgusting people). The devil doesn't exist, so no, people who claim to be psychics are not possessed.
If there ever was a real psychic or actual supernatural phenomena then it would easily win the Randi 1 mil challenge.
Also there is no conspiracy against supernaturalism. Scientists would love to dig into a new form of energy / matter / force. But there simply is nothing there to begin with.
It's people fooling themselves, and others. We human beings are very good at fooling ourselves. Confirmation bias helps people believe things they want to even when most of the evidence goes against those beliefs. Cold reading is used by "psychics" to convince people they have some special powers that ordinary folks lack. No, there's no demons, devils, or evil spooks involved--it's completely ordinary.
Yes they are real, and I have visions that come true. If us "psychic" people are possessed, well then I guess I'm possessed. (I prefer the term sensitive, over "psychic")
If you are a non-believer...I urge you to visit a professional, LEGITIMATE, medium. When they begin telling you things that there is no possible way they could no, you be the judge.

No. Yes. No necessarily but they don't know any better. It like reading horoscopes (horror scopes) they are from the occult.
Its as effective as chocolate being a fire guard.
some are real and it has nothing to do with the devil.
