Interesting story about where "Depression" came from. Back in the 20's, President Hoover said - "This isn't a real recession - it's just a little depression". And the name stuck - it became The Depression - years and years and years of what they used to call "Hard Scrabble".
Depression is defined as a deflation - not the inflation which we're more used to. In a Depression money dries up - it becomes more dear - pennies are horded. Everybody gets real poor.
But since Americans are all a bunch of fat slobs, a good Depression may do us all a big favor. No more paying for weight loss.
