I have always been scared to go outside at night by myself, even though 75% of kidnappings happen in daylight. IT STILL SCARES ME! It's not just that. I am afraid of the dark, ghost and being abducted by aliens.
I know I sound childish- but ever since I got pregnant I was not just paranoid about my baby. The light switch to turn the hall light off is at the opposite end of the hall my room is on and my door doesn't stay open so I go and turn the light out and I run for my room... It's more of a waddle though. I do not sleep with the light on because I read that when it is night time your body automatically thinks that it is bed time and sleeping with a light on can cause cancer. So I am paranoid about sleeping in the dark.

Does anybody else feel paranoid about things like that...?
Update:It's nto just all of that mentioned above. I have nightmares that will wake me up in middle of the night and I will be crying. I get weary about people going near my stomach ever since they started. ]: But, I am glad that I am not alone!

Yeah I get scared too!! My partner works nights sometimes and when he isn't home I am the worst!! I am scared of people breaking in and supernatural stuff too!!! I am getting a bit better but when my partner isn't home I sleep with the loo light on, so it isn't too bright but I can still see. I have a 4 yr old and another on the way, I am meant to be the fearless adult and I jump at any stupid noise outside!! I don't let on to my little one that I am not as confident as he thinks....he doesn't need to know!! My mum told me she used to feel the same way, I think most people have there own fears.
It sounds like you're just having a little higher instinct and such than most women. As long as you know you are paranoid, you are OK...it's when you don't think you are that there's a problem. I tend to get paranoid of being shot by passers-by in cars and people attacking me from behind trees or urinating on my feet when I'm pregnant. You'll make a great mom...all that paranoia is preparation.
I had a fear of drowning while pregnant and it carried over after my pregnancy. I had to go to 10 weeks of combat training 6 months post partum - we had to drive these up armored humvees through mud and 3 feet of water and I just couldn't do it. I choked up and had a panic attack. If you roll over in an up armored humvee you are not getting out of it cause the doors weigh more than 250lbs and just will not budge upside down. Everyone else thought I was such a freak cause they were having fun.
It faded while I was in Afghanistan. Just keep in mind that your fears are the result of hormone overload. They can get worse in the weeks after your pregnancy - especially if ppd sets in. Talk to your doc, you may be experiencing anxiety that can be cured with medication.
Not quite to the extent you are but i feel a lot more vulnerable now i'm preg if someone broke into our house i'd feel quite defenceless cos i wouldn't want them to hurt my baby where as if i wasn't preg i'd fight back for sure and that's weird bout the aliens i quite often have dreams about aliens but only since i've been preg!! Weird!!
I get paranoid that someone will kill me for my baby, which happened just last week. I also worry that my baby will die and be a stillborn.
