President Obama and his government have no respect for our environment they are willing to destroy our entire eco-system just for a few $$$$$$$.................we talk about terrorists but believe me this man is the biggest terrorist of them all.
America as a whole though disgusts me in the sense that despite the drastic changes that are being made to our planet the United States have done little to nothing to help eradicate these problems. In England we care very much so about our enviroment like take London for example even though the pollution level's aren't that high compared with much of the world the people in power are determined to reduce CO2 emissions. In addition to the congestion charge there is also a low emission zone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_low_emission_z... a scheme where over 70 cities and towns in 8 countries around Europe operate or are preparing Low Emission Zones or LEZs to help meet the EU health-based air quality limit values where the most polluting vehicles are regulated.
How much does it cost to drive in NYC? How much does it cost to drive in LA? How much does it cost to drive in any city/town in the United States? YEP thats right £0

With regards to CO2, your Climate Research Unit at East Anglia (along with our NASA, NOAA, Greenpeace, and others) have been caught red-handed fudging data to fit their power grab agenda.

But yeah, Germany doing okay. You should also check out Iceland, they prosecuted financial fraud and started a more Austrian system of economics as opposed to Keynesian. Europe and the U.S. rewarded the fraud and still sit precariously under threat of an avalanche of debt.
But you're right, we have some awful policy makers, but a lot of us are trying to make it better.

Our society - Freedom - demands that maximum profits be achieved at all times; no matter what the price is. For decades there has existed the technology to end ALL atmosphere damaging pollution, but the current system of oil-wastage is very very profitable, so our planet is being killed - by atmospheric pollution! For the single reason of making the wealthy even more wealthy. Haven't they got enough? Each year there are millions of our own kind starve to death, but allowing that to happen keeps food prices up: Which keeps profits up!
The media are big business. Big businesses (all of them) now consider publicly elected representation to be an expensive problem, so the media constantly denigrates publicly elected representation (it isn't actually Obama's fault; he's simply doing as his big business masters tell him to) and, when they have undermined publicly elected representation sufficiently, they will fool the people into destroying this system of government. When they have done that, big business will engage humanity in activities most profitable for big business: Which is ... perpetual global warfare!

However, unless we change this society, the price will be ALL life on this planet. There will be one consolation though: There will be a few unbelievably wealthy corpses. It's difficult to imagine how the USA will shape up when we stop using oil as a fuel. It's such a huge diverse country with vast tracts of inefficient unproductive land. You are wrong to criticise the lack of public transport. It exists and is mainly used by the black and mexican communities. White people tend not to use it because of the risk of crime. I'm sorry if this is not much of an answer.
