It has to do with the high value we place on the rights and dignity of the human person. We believe that life is from conception till death. The pill causes an abortion at the very earliest stages and therefore Catholics are not support to use it. Condoms on the other hand relate to the sacrament of marriage. One of the requirements of a Catholic marriage is to be open to life. Using a condom violates this requirement. What we are opposed to is not legitimate medical use of contraception but the abuse of them. People abuse contraception to have sex without consequence more often than not. This is what we oppose more than anything. We hold sex as one of the key aspects of a good relationship between spouses. We teach to save yourself for marriage so that the emotional bond is strong between the couple and thus you have a stronger family unit and a better environment for the children. Its about the future of those whom come after us not our own selfish wants.
It is considered bad because virtually ALL forms of contraception create and environment where a fertilized egg cannot attach to the lining of a uterus and thereby continue to grow. I differ when it comes to condoms but catholics thing that because it prevents the sperm from coming into contact with an egg it is interfering with the conception that may have been Gods will.
We were taught that, in a sense, you are interfering with the chance of life and God's will. The conception is between a man and woman in loving union with God. That's what we were taught anyway. They also taught us women about how to recognize when our bodies are most likely to be fertile. They taught us to take sexual intercourse very very seriously and never have sex if we aren't ready to accept the consequences.
Christians don't believe in birth control or adoption. I honestly don't agree with them, but who am I to question their ways?
They think that contraception is taking away a possible chance of life. It's their Gd's will to try to have healthy children and a perfect family.
Actually, my mother used to work at a Christian hospital run by nuns, and she recommended birth control for one of her patients. A nun found out about it and my mom almost got fired, even though she's not Christian (anymore).
By the way, nice profile picture. L is my favorite Death Note character.
Because it hinders God's plan for humanity to go out and multiply. According to him (or at least Christian logic)...man was not meant to be promiscuous, and procreation to be done after marriage, therefore abortion being obsolete.
