I don't think that "lose fitness" is an official term or anything, but I can't think of what else to call it.
I'm a runner. I've been running pretty much everyday for the past three years. But if I take more than one day off at a time, I'm back to square one again- I get cramps, nausea, light-headed, etc. when I start running again and it takes me quite a while to get back to where I was before I took the rest days.
Just today, for example, I got on a treadmill after only two days of rest and could barely make it 23 minutes at a pretty slow (8.5 mph) pace. I had bad cramps from the beginning and after about 20 minutes, I got nauseous, dizzy and I felt like I was going to pass out and by 23 minutes, I had to stop out of fear of throwing up or passing out and embarrassing myself in front of the entire gym.
Is there something wrong with me? It just doesn't make sense that I could easily run ten miles one day and then two days later not even be able to run for a half hour.

Hi.It sounds to me like you are overtraining which is a bad thing and something you want to avoid. Overtraining syndrome frequently occurs in athletes who are training for competition or a specific event & train beyond the body's ability to recover. Athletes often exercise longer and harder so they can improve. But without adequate rest and recovery, these training regimens can backfire, and actually decrease performance. The best way to avoid overtraining is include rest days and recovery from one work out to the next
Common Warning Signs and Symptoms of Overtraining Syndrome:
Washed-out feeling, tired, drained, lack of energy
Mild leg soreness, general aches and pains
Pain in muscles and joints
Sudden drop in performance
Insomnia
Headaches
Decreased immunity (increased number of colds, and sore throats)
Decrease in training capacity / intensity
Moodiness and irritability
Depression
Loss of enthusiasm for the sport
Decreased appetite
Increased incidence of injuries.
A compulsive need to exercise
take ac3 day break, let ur body recover n come back.
