Face it, one time or another, we've seen statistics and graphs of racial demographics on a certain field like health, education, and others.
What you may notice, is that whites are always better off, hispanics aren't so good, and blacks are usually at the bottom, and asians aren't even included sometimes.
Does that seem fair? I'm not pulling a racist remark here, but is that the way all Americans should be represented?
You'll always here that school districts want to pull up black and hispanic scores up to white standards. Why aren't they already at the same level? Aren't we all created equal? Shouldn't we have the same results?
Blacks have poor healthcare, hispanics are in that zone too, and whites are still healthier than both of them.
Then there's asians. Many statistics never show Asian-Americans on them. Why? Don't tell me this friend I have doesn't exist to U.S. standards. That millions of Asians across the country just don't exist.
What do you think about this?
Update:BTW: I'm a sociologist. I also chose not to display my avatar to not indicate what race I am, so that I don't influence the answers.
I just want Y! users to give me their opinion.

I will be long dead and buried...... but hopefully there will come a time when the color or nationality of a person will be so unimportant questions like this won't exist.
Too bad I wont' be here.
I would like to address your fourth paragraph:
[You'll always here that school districts want to pull
up black and hispanic scores up to white standards.
Why aren't they already at the same level? Aren't we
all created equal? Shouldn't we have the same results?]
Yes we are all created equal - but that is just an ideal.
If we were all really equal; we would all cross the
finish line of a foot race at the same time, we would all
get the same score on a history test, we would all be the
same height and weight, and we would all have the same IQ
and so on.
In actuality; we run at different speeds, we get
different history test scores, some of us are tall and
thin others are short and heavy, and we have different IQs.
Some of these differences we can't help because they are
in our genes, we inherited them - tall parents will
probably have tall children, etc.
If a white, black, brown, red or yellow child has parents
that smoke, cuss, argue, drink and take drugs and don't
read books or the newspaper and never help the child with
school work, then that child is bound do worse in school.
If a white, black, brown, red or yellow child has very
loving parents that are well educated and read a lot and
always make themselves available to help their child with
homework, then that child stands a much better chance of
doing well in school.
We have no control over our heredity and as children we
have little control over our environment or parents.
The point is, no matter what our heredity, no matter what
our environment it is up to each one of us to do the very
best we can at school or work. A striving to better
ourselves is the best we can do.
Strive to get a better education,
strive to get a better job,
strive to start your own business,
strive to succeed.
Why settle for equality - when each of us can be better?
First of all, the word "always" should be excluded from your vocabulary. So far, there has been no data provided by ANY research, that will substantiate your supposition. Statistics is a tool used by most of the schools of humanities to determine likelihood. The numbers gar nerd by the questionnaires of different areas of research can be skewed to support the proposition of the question. My personal observation, is that non-whites finally understand the necessity of something other than a GED if they want to be able to compete for employment. Industrial arts, like sheet metal, auto mechanics, refrigeration, building construction, electrical provision, welding, petroleum recovery, etc. etc. etc. are a necessity. They pay well too.
Actually, statistics and graphs can say whatever the statistician wishes. They serve no purpose but to stroke the egos of the racist and egotistical. You know that all are created equal, yet there are disparities in healthcare, schools, education, and even opportunities. As long as America fails to realize that Americans of all cultures make up America, there will be "Statistics".
No one wants to be last at anything good or first in anything bad. But someone has to be first and someone has to be last. It hurts being black mostly because every white person thinks I am in corporate America because I am black, and all the black people think I am a sellout.
I think what needs to happen is exactly what you said, people need to realize that not everyone is starting from the same point.
darlin' the greater you push the greater they're going to, each and every now and then that's greater handy to in straightforward terms step out of how and enable them to land on their collective faces, no count what you have somebody else would have some thing else to the alternative, data have constantly been unquestionably manipulated to slot the eyes of the reader
Just in a word or two, I think they're limiting our potential and perpetuate stereotypes. Hopefully we will move past marketers who lack talent and imagination.
I think you should realize that you did show your avatar.
Fair is a word that I would think you would know better than to use. NOTHING IS FAIR! Who told you to expect it to be?
I ignore statistics and demographs. They have to do with my race, but they don't have to do with me. You don't see any of those graphs with labels like "Shantes, Latonyas, Brittanys, Johns...."
