WHY is this going on ?!
Is it a break down is society or something I am trying to understand why so many young girls (even as young as 12) are finding themselves pregnant?
You look on here on Y!A and see people kkep asking everyday what to do as a teenager and pregnant.
Are we not communicating enough in todays day and age with all the texting and computer stuff we do?
Is it the culture we live in that makes it all about SEX in your face and expose young people to think its "COOL" even to have it and then those same people have to deal with the sad consequences when they can barly take care of themselves.
Im not trying to knock or put down those teen moms out there I feel for you and being 18 i have teen friends who are already parents Im just asking in general whats going on?!

Teenage girls think it will be fun.
That one time without protection won't hurt.
But it will, and it's not fun.

I don't understand why people cannot wait until they're married.
You will have someone that won't leave you, you have your own place, you have a career. What other life style could a baby ask for?
I'm quite sure if they could talk full sentences at birth that they wouldn't be asking for their mom (or dad if he sticks around) to have an unstable job, losing their homes to evictions/lack of money, or losing their mom or dad.
What's wrong with this sex-obsessed world?
Who will ever know. All that I know is that people need to stop freaking bringing children into an unstable world.
Whoa..."Joshua and Ashley"...I mean I guess I should excuse your rant and really angry outburst at the fact that it is mid-July, hot and you are 6 months pregnant.
I asked a similar question to this based on an article I found saying that teenage pregnancies are up for the first time in 15 years, and teenage homicides are up for the first time in 12 years. And I argue that the media does play an influence. Come on, 15 years ago sex wasn't really shown anywhere except in R-rated movies. Now you can't even watch a 30 minute TV show without some sex (be it actual sex, or just talking about it) in it. I think kids see that and think that it is the world's culture to go out and have sex with teenagers. Thankfully a show like "The Secret Life of an American Teenager" or whatever it's called is showing one of the consequences of having sex...pregnancy.
Society has changed. Sex outside of marriage is not taboo anymore (remember the "Make Love Not War" campaign...Vietnam War era I believe. Protests). So kids go out and get pregnant. Some of them use protection, but again protection is not 100% effective. Some end up pregnant, and I do applaud those teenage mothers who are actively fighting to make a living for themselves and their baby. The only problem I have are those teenage mothers who give birth, and then really don't take care of it. Or the ones that throw it in the dumpster. Those teenage
mothers I want to smack with a red hot poker multiple times.
So in the end...welcome to 2008. Hopefully I didn't raise the fury of an 18 year old 6 month pregnant girl like you already did. A pissed off pregnant girl/woman scares the life out of me. They could go over and make every single terrorist organization give themselves up if the government would let them.
I by utilising no ability condone teenager being pregnant yet i could be a hypocrite if I stated that is terrible, ect. I have been given pregnant whilst i became 17 and that i became scared to loss of existence, yet fortunately I had the main staggering supportive kinfolk and an the two staggering boyfriend (now my husband) We took duty and we've a fascinating 8 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous son and we've been married 9 years and that i dont think of shall we ask for a extra robust existence than we've got. i somewhat think of it relies upon on the persons character and adulthood point...of direction Im speaking approximately older toddlers, i think of that is a tragedy for a 13, 14, etc to ever be pregnant. I definately think of that there are toddlers having toddlers that should not be mothers and fathers in any way shape or sort, yet for persons like me who had a help gadget and desperate to take duty and are keen to provide up the way your residing your existence on the time to start a clean existence along with your useful infant, i think of that it has the aptitude to be ok. i like my son with all my heart and does not substitute a factor now, yet of direction i think of the 'wiser' factor to do could of direction could have been to have risk-free intercourse and wait till we've been lots older. I thank God although that each and every little thing became out ok for us.
This is coming from a teenage Mum to be; of no fault of my own.
Most people aren't educated about sex, risks and protection. Sexual health classes are crap to be honest, I had them for 3 years [apparently they don't do them after year 9] and I didn't learn anything I didn't already know. I also think that the media plays a role in it because young people are getting pregnant that are meant to be role models and its getting published in the media; while this is happening younger girls are going to want to be pregnant because their role model is. I think its stupid amount of teenage pregnancies. My friend got pregnant at 19 and now she's 20 with a beautiful baby boy.
Okay Girl..
1st I wanna know
WHY DOES EVERY UNPREGNANT TEEN THINK PREGNANT TEENS ARE SO GROTESQUE?
True some girls are whores. There are the true honest "50's flappers" sluts out there...But then there are teens who "accidently had a child."But they fall in love with it- become responsible, and take care of their child. So you can not say its wrong to have a child at a young age, when they are excellent mothers minus the age difference of mothers in theor late 20's-early 30's...
TEEN PREGNANCY is NOT a trend- its been here since mideval times-when they use to "get rid" of the child- or were forced to have them...
If you say TEEN PREGNANCY is a trend BISEXUAL girls/guys must be considered a trend also...
Just because its all the sudden being seen as a terrible thing, doesnt make it the media-parents-kids- or any ones fault...
Im sick of hearing how teens wont make good mothers...
Im 18 and 6 months pregnant, and i know for a fact i will be a great mother, just as i am a great wife, daughter, and friend.
Anything less of having responsibility for something you created you can consider BAD. other wise STEP OFF THE PREGNANT TEEN ISSUE, and WORRY ABOUT THE KIDS WHO ARE LEFT IN DUMPSTERS, BEATEN, and NEGLECTED....because ANYONE can do that to a kid- no matter what age!!!!!!!
WHY is this question constantly being asked?!?!
First teen pregnancy is NOTHING NEW. It seems like it is a "trend" becuase ONE teen celebrity got pregnant. IT's the same as before. There have been teens pregnant for centuries. People do not have sex because it is the "cool" thing to do. They do it because it feels good. The same reason why adults have sex!
And second, the people coming on here saying "I'm 13 and pregnant I had sex with 10 guys" ARE FAKING IT. They do it to get a rise out of people. And apparently its working.
You notice one teen pregnancy (Jamie Lynn) and then you notice ALL and people think there is a rise, but there isn't. People are just noticing it more because of the publicity.
EDIT: I think it is hilarious that people are blaming the media for teen pregnancy. Truth is, it is theparents fault. They spend so much time preaching abstinence and saying "dont have sex until your married" that when their teens start having sex, they are afraid to go to their parents for birthcontrol. If parents spoke about birthcontrol and didnt make their children afraid to go to them for advice, then there would be a huge decline. Parents blaming the media, celebrities, etc... are sad. You dont teach your children to follow what the tv or magazines say now do you? So it is not the medias fault.
There's generally a pattern in the "type" of teenagers who get pregnant. They think it's cool, and they think they're grown up but the reality is, they'll either a) End up on Jeremy Kyle or b) Live on the dole for the rest of their lives.
Just leave them to it. They'll learn the hard way.
EDIT: It angers me when they say they're in "love". They're not. They don't know what love is. And the majority of the time the boy and girl split up with each other. If they loved each other that wouldn't happen.
EDIT: The thumbs down are because you're all in denial. Teenagers do NOT have a big family house, they do NOT have a stable job, they do NOT have enough money to pay a mortgage, they don't even have a stable relationship with the person they're having the blummin kid with. If the that's the sort of environment you think a child should live in then fine. How many teenagers do you know who have a bank account bursting full of money?
i'm 18 now... i got pregnant with my son when i was 15 he was born October 2006.. then i got pregnant with my daughter.. who was born February 18th 2008.. I'm living on my own with my fiance and working along with going to school for radiology... my opinion is that some girls think they can handle it.. but THEY JUST DON'T KNOW.. i myself have always been the big sister/mommy.. so when i went out on my own it was a breeze.. i had to take my GED in order to go to college on time.. but i made it work a lot of young girls are not willing to put in the hard work and elbow grease it take to raise ONE CHILD let alone two or more.. my mother never talked to me about sex.. point is.. if you don't want your baby pregnant.. talk to her.. make her feel safe and make sure she is educated.. the more you shun them away from things like that the more temped they are to try it.. (same wit men).. make them know it's natural but that does not mean its okay to do it so soon. make sure they know what the characteristics of the right one are.. me i got lucky..but some girls don't.
More than half of the people on here claiming they're a pregnant teen most likely aren't.
Im 16 and Im havin sex and I think I did it so I wouldnt feel left out. Like my friend had did it and everyone used to think I was such a goody two shoes. So I think I jus wanted to prove everyone wrong. But it was like once I did it it was to late that I had to continue. My first time was wen I was 15.
