I'm supposed to be writing a critical commentary on a short film script I've written for my writing course, and it's got to be around 1000 words. I already started with what drew me to it, sources of inspiration and of the sort... but I still feel like I'm not doing it right.
Anyone done this before? How did you go about it?

Well, you can cover aspect such as its staging, lighting and the actors' movements or actions and how these aspects heighten the drama.
You can talk about how its initial frames foreshadow what follows (or do not, hence creating surprise).
You can look at how characters evolve/change from the beginning to the end.
Analyze it like any piece of art/literature: how do the parts contribute to the whole. How were these effects achieved?
