I was set on getting the 60gb but then it would be an extra $50 for the hdmi cable, but doesn't the 60gb have a new chip? Basically, which version is more likely to get RROD?
get a 60gb i have a elite and i go on my xbox allot and most of my memory is full of crap and ive still got loads of memory so basicly get the 60gb deffo
No version made now is more likely to get the RROD.
All Xbox 360s that were made around September last year have a new heatsink and the 65nm CPU which produces less heat. However the GPU still is the same as older ones.
It is rumored that the new "Jasper" motherboards are shipping out now or about to come out which have a new CPU and GPU.
So basically, all the hardware inside the Xbox 360s are the same.
As for which I recommend, go with the 60GB one. I have an Elite and I still have a sh*tload of memory left and I havent even deleted all the demos I have downloaded. You can always buy a HDMI cable at a shop.
RROD has mostly been fixed by Microsoft. Most of the consoles are now with an HDMI output which confirms that they are from the new batch and not from the older ones which died of RROD.
There is very little difference using ur xbox with between HDMI and component cable.(already supplied). Difference is only visible if you have a really huge lcd TV (60" and above). Else the resolution is mostly same. I use mine with the component cable on 40" samsung lcd and its amazing.
Basically my suggestion is go for the 60gb one. And if you like black colour, you can still buy controllers and other accessories in black.
The consoles are identical internally. You would have a white Elite with a smaller HDD if you got the "regular" one. The chances are the same no matter what console you get. HDMI cables are 3 dollars, not 50. You don't need the Microsoft branded one.
