Okay so here is my situation. I have an old Xbox 360 with a 20gb hard drive. My brother and I both played on it. Recently I got the new Xbox 360 Slim with the 250gb hard drive. I have a couple of questions that im not sure about.
1) I have played on the new hard drive and have game saves. I have read that when i transfer the content from the old hd it will delete all the content from the new hd. Is there any way to avoid this?
2) Since my brother and I both played on the old one, I don't want to remove all the content on the old hd. Just my stuff. So is this possible with the transfer cable or is there again another way of doing this.
3) Also since I have played on my new hd, I recovered my gamertag on the new hd. Should I recover it back onto the old hd because I feel like if it's on the new hd it might mess things up for some reason.
4) Finally, I've heard stuff about transferring licenses for the games. I'm guessing its like licencses to play the games or own them on your xbox. Like proof of purchase. So i was wondering if I would have to do something extra besides just transferring the content or if the cable does it for you.
So If you can answer any of these questions. Please help me. I would love to get some answers asap. And thanks to anyone who helps in advance.
This might work:
I don't think I can connect the slim hd to a computer. Since the transfer cable doesn't connect to the slim hd. I can move the content from the old hd to the computer but I can't put it on the new hd.
But I have an 8gb memory stick. So Maybe I could take what I put on the computer from the old hd and then put it on the memory stick. Then plug the memory stick into the new console and transfer the content. But I don't know if I can put the content on through the memory stick.

1. Move the saves onto your 8GB flash drive then move them onto the hard drive after the transfer. (you will need to format it for the Xbox 360)
2. When you plug the transfer cable in, you can select what you want and don't want to transfer.
3. Just move it onto the flash drive along with your game saves and move it back after wards.
4. The cable does almost all of the work for you, but you may have to re-download old content again free of charge while signed onto your account after the transfer. You can do this with ease using the download history feature.
The process is very quick and shouldn't take very long, you have full control over what does and doesn't get transferred so don't worry too much about lost data.
I hope this helps
1.)the transfer cable doesn't delete the game saves from the new HD that it is transferring data to. it deletes the data from the old HD it transferred from after it transfers it to the new HD. now it might delete the data from your HD if it match's that of the same account from the previous HD. Like if you have two game saves for the same game on the same profile on a game that allows only one save per profile it might overwrite the data from the new HD but it will ask before id does so in my experience but just in case if you have a game like that saved to your HD on both HD then you can use a flash drive to transfer the data off one of the HD's to save it and then you can use it as a memory unit.
2.) you can choose which content transfers with the transfer cable just Uncheck the content you don't wish to transfer.
3.)I have two Xbox's as well and it wont best things up if you leave it on either or HD but if you are constantly moving between Xbox's then making a flash drive into a memory unit might be a good idea.
4.) Transferring licenses is explained on this section of the Xbox website.

this is the website that explains about the transfer cables on Xbox as well.
