Xbox Transfer Cable Help?

Okay so here is my situation. I have an old Xbox 360 with a 20gb hard drive. My brother and I both played on it. Recently I got the new Xbox 360 Slim with the 250gb hard drive. I have a couple of questions that im not sure about.

1) I have played on the new hard drive and have game saves. I have read that when i transfer the content from the old hd it will delete all the content from the new hd. Is there any way to avoid this?

2) Since my brother and I both played on the old one, I don't want to remove all the content on the old hd. Just my stuff. So is this possible with the transfer cable or is there again another way of doing this.

3) Also since I have played on my new hd, I recovered my gamertag on the new hd. Should I recover it back onto the old hd because I feel like if it's on the new hd it might mess things up for some reason.

4) Finally, I've heard stuff about transferring licenses for the games. I'm guessing its like licencses to play the games or own them on your xbox. Like proof of purchase. So i was wondering if I would have to do something extra besides just transferring the content or if the cable does it for you.

So If you can answer any of these questions. Please help me. I would love to get some answers asap. And thanks to anyone who helps in advance.

This might work:

I don't think I can connect the slim hd to a computer. Since the transfer cable doesn't connect to the slim hd. I can move the content from the old hd to the computer but I can't put it on the new hd.

But I have an 8gb memory stick. So Maybe I could take what I put on the computer from the old hd and then put it on the memory stick. Then plug the memory stick into the new console and transfer the content. But I don't know if I can put the content on through the memory stick.
