Depends what you're using it for really. If you're new you probably won't be playing any gigs so i would definitely suggest the legendary les paul especially at that price. I payed 600 for mine -__-....... I must warn you in case you didn't know, the les paul is basically made of lead. I kid you not it is the heaviest guitar i have ever played and without a good strap can get uncomfortable.

Dude if you can have an epiphone with 250 you dont even discuss it,it's a ledgendary guitar,it's not considered to be one of the best for no reason!
Yamaha guitars are ok,but they tend to have technical problems pretty soon.A Les Paul is TIMELESS...
