I have a 01 Impala 3.8L and just yesterday my temperature gauge was not working, also my A/C was blowing air but was not cold, this is not the first time this happens. Today when I drove my car my temperature gauge and A/C still weren't working but all of a sudden they started working again. Also my A/C vents let in air when it's not on. What could be the problem?

Sounds like a bad ground wire behind the dash. You should first check your battery cables for corrosion and how tight they are. Try to replicate the problem while driving by sharply hitting the dash in front of the steering wheel with your hand. Try driving in conditions similar to those when it quit before. If your NOT mechanically incline wait for the issue to happen again and find a good auto electric repair shop to fix it.
Pretty much all HVAC systems do allow some air to enter the cabin regardless if it isnt on or not. That isnt an issue.
I would see if you got any codes stored. Check Engine Light on???? If there is a fault in the temp sensor, should throw a code but if the PCM doesnt know what the temp is of the engine, it can disable the A/C compressor to prevent overheating the engine because it doesnt know if the engine is running hot or not. More of a safety factor to prevent engine damage
learn the wiring harness next to the A/C accumulator. those have been familiar for the harness rubbing by means of there and inflicting all forms of surprising themes. i'm not sure on the topic of the drivers door subject being relating to harness, that sounds like a topic in the drivers door latch. there's a metamorphosis that shall we the bcm be conscious of if the door is open or closed.
