So all of a sudden when I'm getting ready to head home from work, I turn the bike on, only to discover that I'm getting no power from the battery. No lights, no signals, and the engine doesn't even attempt to turn over. It's as if there's no battery connected at all. On the way to work, however, I had no problem, everything started smoothly. It did'nt seem like the battery was running down at all.
I got the bike push-started and let the engine run. However, any time I reved the engine the lights would dim significantly. When I got it home, I let it run some more and then turned it off, but I still had no power from the battery. I took the battery out, made sure it was properyly connected, but still nothing.
I know next to nothing about engines. Anyone who can tell me what the probably cause is?
Update:Ok, bought new fuses and installed them, still nothing. If it is the battery, then it's weird. I've never had a battery die suddenly for no apparent reason. the bike and all of it's electronics were off, so there was nothing draining it over the course of the day.
Update 3:Also tested the battery today, the battery is fully charged and still good.

Sounds like a blown main fuse. There are two fuses in a fuse holder under the seat, on top of the battery. The headlight fuse governs head and tail lights and some ancillaries, while the main fuse has the starter circuitry. The bike will run with a blown main fuse, but the starter won't get any juice. The glass fuses can be bad without appearing so. replace the main fuse with a known good one to be sure.
I can't think of a scenario other than that where the lights work and the bike will run if you bump start it, but no starter.
Start with checking all your fuses. It sounds like its a fuse.
Dead battery - replace it.
